What is it?
The study of behavior in sports realm and use of mental training to improve performance for athletic success.
The goal of athletic performance coaching is to improve performance and consistency in an athlete’s mental skills specific to a sport, which in turn enhances overall athletic performance. Oftentimes, there needs to be a focus on determining which mental components need attention in order to obtain peak performance.
When is it needed?
—You continually lose confidence before or during competition
—You feel anxious or afraid during competition
—You have very strict expectations
—You attach your self-worth with your performance
—You lose focus during critical moments
—You are100% recovered from but perform less than you did pre injury
—Want to get better but don’t know how
—You have extended slump, plateau, or experience performance decrease
—Your sport is not as fun as it used to be
—You find it harder to motivate yourself after a loss
